inspired artist
Gabriel Schama lives in Oakland, CA. He creates these beautiful creations with a laser cutter. He currently has work on display at The Center Of Art in Wood in Philadelphia and he will have work atThe Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek, CA. I find his work inspiring because, its so intricate. The amount of time it must take to create such a piece must had taken good stamina. I also love how deap the ingravings look, each ridge and curve. My favorite piece of his has to be the piece to the left. It just has to much simplicity on the outside but on the inside its conjested and crazy.
tripod cup
With making tripod cups, first you would need to roll out a slab of clay. After rolling it out you would need make it into a perfect rectangle and put your design on it. When you’re done with that part you will need to roll it on to a pipe for the round shape and cut off extraness. When you’re done with that you will remove it from the pipe and begin to pinch in the bottom to make the form. Keep doing it until you have closed that gaps. DONT FORGET TO SCORE AND SLIP!!!!!
in progress plaster Flower
Starting on this plaster flower for an in between project. Using stripes of the plaster and a tray with egg shapes to give me that curve shape that petals have. Hopefully this turns out wonderfully!!!! Stay tuned!
final exam
1. Two tools i used the most throughout this semester was the sponge and slab roller. The sponge helped me smooth out a lot of my projects and the slab roller provided me with flat, smooth, and even slabs of clay to work with.
2. Throughout this semester my knowledge has grown a lot with understanding the tools. I understand that they can give me all sorts of detail depending on how I handle them.
3.Underglaze was my favorite to use. Being able to use it on the bottom of my pieces to give it color throughout really made a difference.
4.I would have to say my tray set was my most successful piece this year. I don’t know what took over me when it came to sunflowers, but I was all for them.
5.For the project that reflects me as an artist would be my tray set. The sunflowers represent happiness which is something I like to surround myself in. The bright colors in the piece help bring that more to life!
