Artist inspired
This is the practice that we did in class. Learning how to mix our 3 primary colors to get the rest of the color wheel, and how to make tents and shades of the 3 as well. We also did a class mini project where each person got a square of a famous painting and had to recreate it.
1. My reference artist was Andy Warhol. I used a lot of bright colors and repetition like he did with his Marilyn Monroe painting.
2. Overall I would say my painting was neat considering I don’t get much praise with acrylic paints. I do, however, have a few spots that could be neater than others.
3. The most difficult part of the project was keeping his style of painting with my style of art and how I do things.
4. The bright colors reflect his usage of colors in the Marilyn Monroe piece a lot.
5. My painting reflects my artist with the uses of my bright colors and repetition.
6. He would probably want a lot of things changed. Maybe have the girls look realistic.
7. I would have done a lot more detail into making them look a lot more realistic.

1. I would consider my sculpture to fo well executed. I made sure that everything was smooth and that the bits looked more realistic.
2. I would to say that the most difficult part of the project was being gentle, and making sure everything i smoothed stayed that way. (I have very longer nails right now)
3. The colors I choose aare used to represent warm weather and seasons which is when your would mostly eat popsicles.
4. From the different views of my sculpture you can see the different stages of the popsicles.
5. In sculptures you have to make the texture physically rather than draw it which can be easier or more difficult depending on what it is.
6. Making sure the popsicles were smooth as possible made sure that the texture would be right.
7. I accomplished this by using references pictures and even my prior knowledge.
8. I would probably have my bites look way more realistic than they look today.

Color penicl
1) I feel like if I would’ve have taken my time with the portrait, it would’ve came out a lot better.
2) Blending colors sometimes was hard considering that it must be the right shade of the color and you must apply the right pressure.
3) Drawing in each box instead of just drawing it all out helps with your portion.
4) With changing values when using colored pencils it’s all about the presssure that you apply.
5) Testing the pressure and the layers of the colors on a separate sheet of paper helped a lot.
6) Maybe more practice with the colored pencils and blending would be helpful.
7) The practice with the colored pencils was very beneficial, but maybe a few more mini projects would’ve been helpful.
8) Sahski did a really good with hers. The colors and proportions came out really good. Looking almost exactly like her photo.

Watercolor Painting
- Well with using the pouring watercolor technique, you must plan your piece out. The things you want to keep white from the very beginning, you paint on masking fluid in those areas. When it’s completely dry, you can start your first layer of paint. First, spray your paint over of with water. Once you make sure that every inch is covered with water then you start using your colors that you would like for base. Notice the values in your picture to plan accordingly. If you would like to keep this color in some areas, make sure your paper is bone dry (you can speed up this process with a blow dryer). Then add masking fluid to those areas to preserve that color. Continue this process to to build up values in your piece.
- During this process, I ran into the problem of not knowing what to do next. The masking fluid would sometimes have me thinking that I had to have my next color play off of it. I would also forget what color I had preserved under my masking fluid to know how to build up my values.
- I learned the importance of values, plan ahead, have patience, and to expect the best for the outcome of my piece.
- Something I would maybe do differently with my project would be to add different colors to get darker values in my sunshine. Maybe to make it look like it had sun spots.
- I use my layers with colors to show how the petals in the flowers are layered on top of each other.
- I do feel like the mini lessons helped. I still have an issue with using my brushes to paint, I get sort of scared to use them not wanting to over do it. With not wanting to over do it, I tend to not do enough and pieces don’t come out looking the way i want.
- Having the guest artist come was a great experience. Learning a new technique from someone that does this for a living with amazing.
- I learned that even professional artist still go through the frustration process of not knowing what to do next. I also learned that it’s normal to want to step away from a piece and then come back to it.
1. We tried out different techniques using watercolor to learn how to use watercolor paints to give different effects.
2. Did different color value charts to learn control of the amount of water and paint.
3. We painted an apple to practice values on a still object.
4. Painted a cone, cube, and sphere to practice shadows and highlights with using watercolor pencils.

pen and ink
- I actually think my composition was pretty good for my piece. Having my boat small and simple, but the waves big and have them flow shows the representation of life.
- The textures and patterns I use were important, because using the different patterns in my composition made parts of my piece stand out for the rest.
- Value was important to show the depths of certain objects within the piece.
- My craftsmanship during this project could be a lot better. Maybe having practice with my realistic objects before doing my piece would've helped. I most definitely need more practice with pen to perfect my line work.
- With the practice we had in class, I was able to pick the right patterns and know how to control the values of them to make things pop or give them dimensions.
- It is important to understand the concepts we are taught in class, because they will definitely help you succeed in your piece all together.
- I'm learning how to use different medians to widen my horizon when it comes to art. When it comes to picking out a median for independent projects I know what I have my strengths in and what I can succeed in.
- I would take my time with the project and maybe use different patterns and values to bring it more to life in a sense.
Here's our pen practice worksheets. We practiced on our stippling, the change of values, how to use different patterns to give different effects, and coming up with different patterns. We also practiced on matching up with patterns.
FIrst day assignment
The objective was to see where we were in our skills. We were to draw a hand, animal, a tree in an environment, and a one point perspective road.
